What's called on set

In your own words, write a paragraph on what needs to be called on set before what and explain why it is so important.  Refer to the Production Process slides if needed.

Depending on the set, different crews will say different things. Everything said is important to alert everyone on set, and prepare them for the take.

1) AD calls “lock it up!”

2) AD calls "Picture is up!" Then "Quiet everyone!”
If recording audio, it's important to let everyone know, and to be quiet.

3) AD calls "Roll sound!”

4) Sound Mixer rolls sound. Announces "sound speed.”

5) AD calls "Roll camera!”

6) Camera Op rolls and calls "Camera Speed!”

7) 2nd AC is positioned, extends slate open

8) 2nd AC calls roll, shot, take then calls out "marker!"  Then claps the slate.

9) Camera Op refocuses to action, calls "Set!"

10) AD calls for action background, if it's needed in the scene.

11) Finally, the director calls "action!”
