What is the foley artists' role in crafting sound effects? Explain in detail three different things that you learned in this video and how they affect the final film.
Foley is an art in which the sound artist will recreate the sounds we see on the screen in post. This role is really important, because it adds realism back into the film. They add certain sounds back in after filming. They'll add sounds in that the characters interact with. For example, the rustling of clothes, or footsteps in the snow. What always surprises me, is how realistic the artists are able to make things sound. I'm also always impressed by how creative the artists are with what items they use to make certain sounds. I learned that there are usually three people working in the room. One woman, one man, and a recorder. I actually would've thought there would've been more people to do all of the sounds in a movie.
